A Piedmont Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N922AE performing flight AA-5811 from Philadelphia,PA to Rochester,NY (USA) with 50 passengers and 3 crew, landed on Rochester's runway 22 and slowed. While vacating the runway via turn off A2 at 15:48L (20:48Z) the aircraft skidded and came to a stop partially off the taxiway still inside the runway protected area. Subsequent approaches were instructed to go around.

Runway 04/22 was closed, the airport switched to using runway 28.

The airline reported "snowy airport conditions" as cause for the occurrence. There were no injuries.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Rochester about 16 hours after landing.
